Ok, it only plays with vanilla, since the Sept 1st update that's when it started before that fine lol. So now it seems it is in a loop for the HSY lol.
So... Since High School and that patch that came after it (which I postponed for as long as I could exactly because it was problematic) there's been tons of issues with mods and custom content, sadly.
There's a widely spread bug called "groundhog day" when the game keeps going back in time day after day or when you save, close, open again, all your progress is lost.
If you can, try playing vanilla for a little bit to see what happens.
Also, check that you do not have Cal Better WereWolf Cheats or Carl's Dine Out Mods. Or old CC Beds. Someone else got rid of those problems by removing these specific things.

I believe fixes will be gradually released from both ends. EA and content creators.
My game keep resetting when I first started the new save, my sims was pregnant, went to build a house, and afterward back at the apartment: my student loan is back, sims not pregnant, male sims job was switched back to base game jobs that not working, and the female job was not there lol. I still cannot go to copperdale and for some reason, this new save is lagging and I took out 80 percent of my cc and mods.
Ouch. Try the game without any mods or existing saves to see how it goes. As you mention you still have 20% of your CC and mods on top of the fact your save was likely using more content before, so it might have something corrupted.
Also, there's a "groundhog day" bug going around since High School Years.
