Update Only Procedure [Alternative]
Reusing Files You Already Have for Faster Download
If you already have another version of the game, no matter where it comes from, no matter the version number, or even if it's multi language or English only, you can optionally do the following if you want to speed up the download process by reusing the files you already have in your computer!
The instructions below are for Tixati, but you will likely be able to do the same if using another torrent client.
Once you start downloading you should have a similar screen like the one below. You need to select the torrent, right click on it, choose stop to make Tixati pause downloading (mine was already complete, therefore it shows as seeding, yours will be downloading and with a lower percentage in your progress column until it's done).
As you can see above the folder structure is similar to what you have on your local copy of the game. What you will do next is to reuse the files you already have on your computer, so you don't need to redownload them, saving you many hours of wait.
To do that, you'll have to open your local copy of the game on Windows Explorer. In my case I use the default C:\Program Files\The Sims 4 folder, but your copy of the game can be located anywhere else according to how you set it up previously (Origin's version can also be used as a "source" for this step, by the way).
If you look at the folder structure below you'll see it's VERY similar to the one within the torrent. What you want to do is to select everything (left click any of the items just once, then use Ctrl + A so select all items), then copy (Ctrl + C or Right Click Selection, then Copy).
Now, back to your torrent client, you want to right click on the folder The Sims 4 shown below, then on Open Folder.
Double Click on The Sims 4
Now you can press Ctrl + V (or right click on an empty space, then select Paste) to Paste the previously copied files:
Enable the check mark to "Do this for all current items" when you see the dialog below, then click on Yes.
Once you're done copying / overwriting the files, open Tixati again, then right click on the torrent you're downloading, then Local Files, Force Recheck.
That will make Tixati compare the files you just wrote with the ones that should be downloaded. If they're the same, they'll be reused, if they're different, they'll be discarded automatically, that way Tixati will only download what you really need on the next step.
Once the Force Recheck procedure is done (it may take a few minutes to process everything), you just need to right click the torrent again, then Start.
Depending on which files you already had this will speed up your download considerably. Once your Progress Bar is at 100% your download is complete and you can move to the next page for the next step of this tutorial!

Hi! I don't know. You're using an old version, check your anti virus situation (you need to exclude the folder where the game is and allow/restore any possibly affected items) and remember to kill origin in your task manager, since this error code seems to be related to Origin.

So.. I just looked through some of the more recent changelogs to see which version i'd want, and it looks like most of the complicating updates I don't need can actually be turned off in the menu
So scratch the older version question, sorry- but would I be able to prevent it from updating further, to keep my mods stable, and disable certain DLC packs to save space? Those are the other two reasons I'd want an older version, but if I can do those things it'd definitely be simpler to just buy the current update

Oh no, your questions are very insightful and make perfect sense.
Yes, you can use either version this way. You'd get the last verison and you can right click the folders you don't want and select "keep on line only" to not synchronize them (it) to your PC.
Lab Version gives you access to the gallery and on line connectino.
Automatic does not. It's updated automatically via synchronization but if you previously selected existing DLC to not be downloaded, you won't get it.
And, as always, you can copy the entire folder after fully synchronized somewhere else in your computer (automatic without gallery) if you want a static version without updates.
Finally, if you subscribe to a tier with Lab Access you get both versions. If you subscribe to the tier without Lab you only get the regular Automatic Off Line. I hope this helps. ð

Yes. It is off line and all content created or edited belongs to "Game Changer" (the user name).
Remember to not cancel if not ready to lose access to the server (monthly subscriptions don't carry remaining access time to the server, you lose access right away even if you donated for enough for 30 days) and enjoy! ðĪ

Hello, I have the game downloaded but when I try to play it says "The content of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Orgin to play." How do i fix this?
Hi! To have the latest version you need to be subscribed and use The Sims 4 All in One Automatic, but it seems your subscription to Premium Access was cancelled a long time ago.

You need to remove the file "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\GameVersion.txt" to get rid of the error.
Can't use saves from the new version of the game with the old one without risking corrupt files and losing them. Always backup before switching versions, just in case.

Hum. I heard of that problem with torrents on Tixati before, but I don't remember if there was a solution to it or if you had to start over without reusing files or maybe using another torrent client, sorry. It's been a long time since I heard of it ð

It's a problem with the client itself, try another torrent client and it should (hopefully) work.
Hey, i just installed this version after having to put my laptop in the factory settings again, i did everything the way you say in the text but everytime i start the game it randomly shuts down after a few minutes. Like everything seems to be working, i made a sim but after like 10 minutes, sometimes less, the game turns off. Do you know why that could be?
(also before i restored my laptop to the factory settings, i had ts4 downloaded from you and it worked completely fine - i did have an older version tho, the last extention pack i had was the university one)
That sounds like a video card / driver issue is likely. Try to update the driver and, if necessary, change your graphics settings a bit to see what happens.

Hi! You just delete the folder that has the game and it's gone (The Sims 4 inside Program Files, if you installed it there). You can also delete your folder The Sims 4 inside Documents\Electronic Arts if you want to delete your saves and mods/CC, otherwise you don't, since you can just keep them for the future.

Yes. You subscribe to make a monthly or yearly donation and you have continued access to the latest version for as long as you stay subscribed (and you lose access right away whenever you cancel, or when your "year" is over if you donate yearly). The content is available to people who want to support my work, not the other way around.
