The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack drops in just a mere few days, and since we know that living your best Eco Lifestyle can take a little extra elbow grease, weā€™ve added some exciting quality-of-life improvements to help pave the way.

Between Inventory updates, new CAS assets from a surprise partnership with MĀ·AĀ·C the return of two beloved NPCs, as well as some really cool new Build features, we hope you enjoy the update.

New and Improved Features

Inventory Updates

Fellow hoarders, this oneā€™s for you: We have updated the Sim Inventory with the ability to Filter, Sort, Favorite, Multi-Select, and Multi-Sell in one easy flick of the wrist. Managing that cumbersome pile of collectables youā€™ve been racking up for the past five years has never been so easy!

Free Placement of Doors and Windows

Following in true Eco Lifestyle fashion, Door and Window placement is now also Off-the-Grid. But not that kind of grid. The limiting kind of tile grid that used to keep you from placing your windows and doors precisely where you wanted them. By holding down the Alt key while dragging, you can enjoy the smooth sensations of free Door and Window placement.

Ladders

Ladders have been added as part of the Build System. Find your free Classic Wooden Ladder in the Build catalog in the Stairs (& Ladders) category. Unlike Island Livingā€™s Dock and Ladder objects for use on water lots, these Ladders can be placed anywhere on your lot and like stairs, they can be used as a means for Sims to traverse from one floor to another.

MĀ·AĀ·C Cosmetics

Did you say you needed some fresh looks for your Sims? Weā€™ve collaborated with none other than MĀ·AĀ·C Cosmetics to bring you 12 fashion-forward makeup assets suited for everything from everyday to night out glam. If youā€™re not already using it, on PC and Mac we recommend trying out the ā€œUncompressed Sim Texturesā€ setting in the Options Menu, which is now enabled by default on the High and Ultra graphics settings profiles in order to see these looks really shine. While console versions of The Sims 4 do not have the setting in the Options Menu, each console spec is automatically using the optimal graphical settings based on system resources.

Repo Person NPC

The Repo Person NPC has graduated with honors from Discover Universityā€™s University of Britechester with a Degree in Villainy and has comfortably taken up residence in Base Game. Now everyone can taste their wrath if Bill payments fall behind.

Bills Update

Speaking of Bills, weā€™ve added a cohesive breakdown of Simā€™s Bills information that can be accessed via an interaction on the Mailbox or Phone. Now instead of lumping everything together, you can see what percentage of your Bills go to Water, what percentage go to Power, insight into any Fees, Reductions, or Penalties. All this and more, calculated and cleanly presented for your finer understanding.

Legacy Neighborhood Map Tags

We have gone back and added Map Tags with Neighborhood Descriptions to existing neighborhoods that didnā€™t yet have them. We now have delightful icons, names, and descriptions for the no-longer-forgotten Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Newcrest, and Windenburg. Ok, feel free to freak out now.

Off-The-Grid Updates

This one is tricky to list out in a single paragraph with attempted wit, so Iā€™ll just drop this bullet list off right here:

  • The Off-the-Grid Lot Trait now ties into our new Bill updates, drawing from Water and Power utility. Without excess utility, lots function off-the-grid as they did before. With excess utility, they function more like an on-the-grid lot.
  • There is a new Off-the-Grid Build category that will allow players to find Off-the-Grid and survival-esque objects.
  • We've done a pass on candles to ensure they properly work when electricity is out.
  • Off-the-Grid supported Fridges now have an "Add Ice" interaction that will allow them to keep food preservedā€”so long as the ice remains!
  • Sim will now autonomously use stoves and fridges when Off-the-Grid, not just grills.
  • Harvestables now grant unique buffs when consumed off-the-grid.
  • Dogs and Toddlers now have a unique interaction to be bathed in Bathtubs even when Off-the-Grid.
  • Objects can now be cleaned using the "Use Elbow Grease" interaction. Yummy.
  • Players are able to gather Water utility from fishing spots in base game. With Island Living they can gather from the waterfall. Water can also be gathered from any world with swimmable 'ocean' water. With Seasons, water can be gathered from snow drifts.
  • Off-the-Grid specific buffs will now take into account motives and Sim traits when determining if a Sim should receive a positive or negative moodlet when living Off-the-Grid.
  • We've added multiple new recipes that can be cooked while Off-the-Grid given a Sim has the proper cooking skill level. Some recipes require special ingredients like the Boiling Frog Hot Potā€”which adds a really neat survival element to off-the-grid gameplay, while providing Sims with powerful new moodlets that will help them survive in the wild.

No Trespassing

Some people who have the Vampires Game Pack appreciate Vladā€™s antics more than others. I personally love receiving a charming visit from Vlad, and sometimes I could really use a kind compliment about my neck. But weā€™ve heard there are a select few that donā€™t quite like having their Simā€™s necks bitten and motives tanked by an invasive nighttime visitor with no respect for boundaries. Keep Vampires and other unwanted visitors at bay with a new No Trespassing interaction weā€™ve added to the Door.

Send Home Interaction

Speaking of unwelcome visitors, weā€™ve also added a new Send Home interaction thatā€™s available on visiting NPCs or as a self-interaction in the case of multiple visitors. How is this interaction any different from Ask To Leave or Go Away, you might ask? Convenience. Unlike its less efficient predecessors, this interaction is nearly instantaneous and leaves your visitors with no hurt feelings or Relationship impact. We added it as a useful tool for players, not necessarily as a story-telling mechanism.

Build Mode Items Grant Gameplay Effects

How you build your lot can now affect your gameplay. Certain objects such as wall patterns, floor patterns, fences, and columns bring different gameplay modifiers. Some of these modifiers affect how your Bills and utilities are calculated by decreasing or increasing your Power or Water utility production or usage, as well increasing or decreasing the price of bills. Environment Score can now be impacted by certain objects and materials. Drywall walls without wall patterns applied now decrease environment score like they did in The Sims 3! The choice of floor and wall materials used can also affect the ability to spread fire or puddles at an increased or lessened rate. And if youā€™d rather build your lot without having to think about these things, donā€™t worry. Thereā€™s an Option in the Gameplay menu to turn all of this off.

Firefighter NPC

Oh hey, and speaking of Fire, that reminds me. Did you hear that weā€™ve added Firefighter NPCs to the game? We took nods from classic Firefighter NPC behavior from The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3 and added a few small twists for The Sims 4. When a fire breaks out, Firefighters will come automatically to your lot if you already have a Fire Alarm installed. That way, if you still like to let things burn baby burn, you can just ā€œaccidentallyā€ forget to place a Fire Alarm. Itā€™s okay. We wonā€™t tell anybody. If you honestly did forget to place a Fire Alarm, you can call the Fire Department from the Phone or by clicking on the fire itself. If the Fire Department is called, but there is not an active fire, they will call you on your lapse in judgement and charge you a fine. You wonā€™t be punished if there was legitimately a fire that was extinguished before they arrive though. The Firefighter Uniform can be accessed in CAS and gives any Sim wearing it the Fireproof Buff, which gives them some extra protection against fires as well as make them more efficient at putting out fires themselves. Itā€™s worth noting that Firefighter NPCā€™s do not show up in Island Livingā€™s Sulani. Sulani already has their local Fire Brigade to handle these kinds of emergencies and besides, who wants to wear all that heavy Firefighter gear in the tropics?

Styled Looks for Tots and Kids

More than 20 New Styled Looks have been added for Children and Toddlers, using existing Base Game CAS assets to better flesh out some outfit categories that previously felt sparse.

Balancing Pass of Phone Call Invitations

After five years of Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs our phone call invites were admittedly starting to get a little spammy. Moments after moving in, youā€™ve got Lucas Munch hitting you up, asking you to go to the Bluffs with him. Then not long after, you might have had Vivian Lewis asking you to join her at The Spice Festival. Jeez, let me get settled in first, why donā€™t ya? Weā€™ve done a tuning pass to rebalance all of these previously competing Phone invites to give you a more meaningful and holistic experience.

Less Invasive Earbuds

In the same vein as the above balancing pass, we wanted to smooth out one of our more pressing notifications. The free earbuds pop-up that comes with Fitness Stuff has been changed to a more passive TNS and gifts your Sim the earbuds automatically when it triggers. The days of telling the game over and over that you donā€™t want free earbuds, or worse - hitting OK by accident - is a thing of the past.

CONSOLE UPDATES

Eco Lifestyle releasing on the same day across all platforms marks an important milestone for The Sims 4 as Simmers get to play the same content and share new creations on The Gallery together. In this update Console Simmers have a few additional features to improve their quality of life:

We have added a new Controls Overlay Reminder that shows up throughout CAS, Gallery, Live Mode and Build Mode which should make it easier for new Simmers to jump in and not need to remember all the controls.

  • If you donā€™t want to be reminded and you know all the controls by heart, you can turn off the Controls Overlay Reminder in the Game Options > Other menu
  • The controller overlay screens remain available for those who want them.

  1. Hello! I'm having a slight issue. I've been using your sims updates from your website for a while now (thank you for that by the way), but with this patch I installed- all my mods aren't even seen by the game. Every time I open the game I check enable mods and cc and script mods and apply the change, but when I close it and reopen it it doesn't save. I do put the mods in the documents<electronic arts<sims 4< mods. If you have an idea of what might've caused that it would be a great help. Thank you

    1. This version you're commenting on is quite old already. You can use the latest The Sims 4 All in One Automatic [Including Nifty Knitting] if you subscribe or, otherwise, one of the versions below:

  2. Ok can someone explain to me when i click on my sim to load the game, it takes me back to the world page. I have taken out some of the mods and getting ready to load back in. I wanted to post this question to see what you guys might think is the problem.

    1. Ouch. What happens with no mods at all? I am going to sleep right now, but I'll read your answer tomorrow. Maybe someone else can also comment below with a suggestion...

      I know that Cheats UI needs to be updated or it breaks the entire game.

  3. Hi, I quite do not get it.
    This update is not free, but is it included in the two more recent ones (that are free)? Or is your free cracks service over from this patch on? If it is, why not make the same article or update the current one?
     
    PS: Your subscription thing is interesting (...) People search for mods bc they are free. But it do is interesting, even though I'd rather stick to seeing ads.
    Maybe you can do this: premium gives one week early access on the free mod, no ads, on top of being updated automaticaly; while free = ads and one week late on the updates. That is to say, I suggest this in case you do stop the free mod service from this patch on. Bc you will obviously lose a lot of people.
    Ads wouldn't be much, but considering the amount of people seeing them, it could be ok! And it would be on top of the subscriptions, so more interesting for you.

      The updates are rolled first to Premium Subscribers on The Sims 4 Automatic.

      The Sims 4 Automatic has the added advantage of allowing people download and update their game without using torrents, which aren't allowed in many places.

      The perks are a way to say thank you to my supporters. Without them I'd not be able to be doing this anymore, since ad revenues plummeted because of the virus. Plus I have extra expenses with the file delivery system and I have been working 18 hours a every day, sometimes more, without weekends or resting days, to keep the site up and reply to questions as soon as possible.

      I agree with you that I should delay the torrents a bit, I will do that next time, your feedback is very appreciated šŸ’–

      I ended up releasing this one faster because it was a smaller patch that just fixes things and doesn't add new features.

      It's very true that people stopped subscribing once I released the torrent versions, so I should really hold of on releasing them for longer (previously it took me about a day or two to work out the torrents after the Automatic, but I did not intentionally delay the torrents because I was naive and I thought people who could would subscribe šŸ˜‰)

        I actually suggested this, as it's obvious you're very dedicated to your website (answer to comments, always up to date quickly, functional and easy to use torrents, etc.), and deserve to be rewarded for this dedication.
        A week would indeed be a good delay; because lets say someone subscribes and has a poor wifi connection, he'd get his update as soon as it's released for free, which is not very interesting for the price. Also, it's a real plus for people who have to use VPNs indeed. Torrents aren't allowed in my country, I have a hell of a slow wifi, and I'm not really protected against the governments' "radars". I'm still a student, so I'd consider getting the premium access too. I didn't realize first but it's in USD, so it's much cheaper than what I thought.
         
        And, I'm actually curious about this virus? What happened?
         
         

        1. Aw. You're very nice. I am very thankful for your insight and I think you're right. Whenever I released the torrent people stopped subscribing.

          The yearly subscription through paypal is much cheaper than the other options as a way to reward people who stay with me through good and bad times.

          I work alone, so I do my best when I am here, sometimes people get mad when I take a few hours to reply when I sleep, but I made peace with that, I am doing my best, I even reply when I wake up to use the washroom in the middle of the night, that's how committed I am šŸ˜

          What do you mean with this virus? COVID?

            You are very committed indeed, but please take care of yourself! Allow yourself some rest and time for you, or you'd end up having a meltdown... People on the Internet are always angry about something. You do your best, so as long as you are aware of this, don't take them too seriously and prioritize yourself. Over the years, I lost track of how many creators and fans for The Sims series left because of meltdowns. I've hardly ever been in contact with one of them, so please do not become one of them! ^_^

              I am very grateful for having a very nice and understanding community here, but I always want to do more and more, I need to control myself to not burn out.

              Today I slowed down a bit after releasing all the new content, even had a bunch of wine.

              Yes, many Simmers gave up because of working too hard, I miss Curtis content, he was the best!

              The only virus I am really worried about is COVID

              Sometimes I mention handing the anti virus because anti virus software flags non contaminated items falsely just because they were modded. It's a constant on my tutorials.

              Anyways, thanks a lot for your feedback. I had some wine and I am indeed relaxing a bit now, because I can't be on 100% power all the time.

  4. Hello, I'm sorry, I have problem with my Zlorigin. After I updated the new patch and downloaded Eco lifestyle via Zlorigin I can't play it. Whenever I tapped play it I got a windo message that I have to enter the serial code. So I restart the computer, excluded the zlorigin from windows defender, and suddenly I can't login to the zlorigin. I already authing the zclient but the zlorigin keeps give me "online login is currently unavailable."
    It was normal before the update, I can login like usual. What am I supposed to do??

    1. Maybe tomorrow, it takes longer and I am really exhausted, but you can use the All in One on top of your files, my new tutorial above shows exactly what to do, so you don't redownload what you already have.

      1. Hi! Please tell me if i understand correctly: i have your mod without the latest patch and eco lifestyle, if i want them i have to install all in one (when it comes out) or subscribe to automatic? like, there won't be individual downloads of the patch and dlc?

        1. Hi! If you have 1.62 (Hellos Update) there will be an update only version to Eco Lifestyle 1.63.134.1020

          If you have an older version you'll need to use the All in One.

          The Sims 4 All in One Automatic 1.63.134 [Eco Lifestyle] is the only one available right now, because it's distributed differently. I will need at least a few hours to put together the new All in One Torrent and another few hours for the update only version, sorry.

          Also, The Sims 4 Automatically will always be somehow one step ahead, since whenever there's something new I just need to test it, apply the patch / fix / update and you'll all get the files synchronized right after when you're connected and running the app

I really appreciated your kindness to make me still updated about sims 4, I wanna ask... if the official eco-lifestyle pack just released, do I just have to update my sims 4 till the latest update or there will be a new all in one portable that I must download? (note: I already have all the latest update from this site)

    1. The Sims 4 All in One Automatic is updated automatically by Yandex Disk App in the background and it already has the pre Eco Lifestyle patch applied.

      The regular All in One will be released in a couple of days with Eco Lifestyle and also an update version for people who are on 1.62 (Hellos and Fixes Update).

      The Sims 4 Automatic is always the first to be updated.

  10. Hi! I have a friend who hasn't updated her game since Discover University came out, but who is now very much interested in getting this next pack when it comes out and I'll be trying to help her remotely lol. How does the update work in this case? Will downloading just the latest patch work or does she need to do it incrementally in some way?
    Also, I myself haven't bothered with updates after the one we got with tiny living, so similar case but less drastic I guess. Thanks for your time!

  11. hey i have your automatic which is awesome! question- eco lifestyle isn't installed, it says click to download on my sims 4 homescreen and i can't obviously because it wants to connect to internet. any help?

    1. Hi. It will be available in a day or two, whenever EA releases it, sorry. Your Sims Automatic should be updated when your Yandex Disk App synchronizes it with mine after I update it on my end.

  18. I'm SOO excited for the free windows and doors placements! And the changes to the inventory are honestly my favorite edit. That's going to make game play so much better. I'm stressed for the havoc this is going to cause all my mods and cc. I have 4000 to deal with šŸ˜” and I'm about to download more. Thanks for keeping us informed!

    1. Wow! 4000 CC items and mods? That's just awesome! I am also excited mostly for the new building features. I wish they gave us an auto pay for bills with the update as well, it's unrealistic to have to open your mail box to pay your bills manually LOL.
